Henrik Ibsen grew up with a struggling life experiencing the horrors of poverty, loneliness, and disgrace of himself, his family, and his country. He became an apprentice for a pharmacist which is where he began to write. Ibsen had the opportunity to attend college, but he decided to commit himself to writing after he failed his classes.
