I’ll confess I made an early Google search to try and decipher what the extravagant title of Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana actually means. It turns out “Lacrimosa” is the Latin for “weeping”, most notably the title of a Mozart requiem. Ys has a knack for fast-paced dynamic combat, and Lacrimosa of Dana is the best it’s ever been. Building off the rock/paper/scissors system introduced in Ys Seven, each of the playable With fun, fast-paced combat, likable characters, and an enjoyable story that takes full advantage of its beautiful shipwrecked setting, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is a top-shelf action RPG.
